Huh?

The purpose of this post is two fold.

1. To demonstrate the difference between the VP candidates, Released Oct. 1. 2008:

2. Now, from that last clip, Palin couldn't name a supreme court case she disagreed with other than Roe v. Wade. Backtrack to June 25, 2008:

Who's to say she isn't fit to lead.

Personally I don't believe either VP candidate was chosen because they can lead. They were chose solely to help the candidates when the office. So to be fair:

My opinion the VP's are both "Dick Cheney's"

Let me preface this by saying this isn't directed at Shan, just a venue to get my opinion out.

I have to disagree with you. I don't think either of them are Dick Cheney's. Cheney is a writhing ball of evil. I think the debates last night out a lit of who they are into context. I know I have a bit of a bias (esp. against Palin) but I will try to be as fair as I can given the info I have absorbed.

Biden is known for his gaffes, that's no secret. And, to be fair, some of those clips have been edited to cast a worse light on Biden. But he's smart and experienced. He's been in the senate for over 30 years and has served on many committees in that time. Whether you agree with his policies or not is one thing. But he knows the issues and has a plan on how to deal with them. If Obama was just going for the win, he would have picked Hillary. I think it was a much riskier choice to go with Biden.

Palin seems to me like George Bush in a suit. Totally unqualified, totally oblivious to that fact, and completely hungry for power. She came out in the RNC with very hostile rhetoric. When you are going to introduce yourself that way, you better be able to back it up. She can't. The thing I can't stand about her, is the arrogance she portrays, while having never been interested in the world at all outside of Alaska until 5 weeks ago. Shes an empty suit that parrots what her handlers tell her and can't answer a direct question. The fact McCain could very well not make it through his first term, putting this woman into the most important job in the world is very scary to me. If McCain picked Romney or Liberman, I would still vote against them. But I wouldn't fear for the fate of our country. Palin was a pick to bring in the evangelical vote and right leaning unconvinced men.

Obviously I have strong feelings about this. Sorry for the rant, but I can't see how anyone would vote the McCain/Palin ticket. If you are just voting the lesser of two evils, Obama/Biden is the safer way to go, IMO. If you have issues with Obama, go for a third party. Putting Palin in a position of that power would be a very bad thing for us. We've had a puppet govt. for the neocons the last eight years. To give them another 4 would be disastrous.

I don't think you should apologize for you rant, I wish more people would become passionate about their futures. It makes me mad how people take this right to vote for granted, and don't take the time to make a good educated decision. By the way this is Kent not Shan.

I didn't mean that they were like Dick Cheney the person (i.e. someone who makes millions of dollars a year off of a war that shouldn't have been fought in the first place) I simply meant that Biden and Palin were not picked because they would be great leaders if the president passed away but they were chosen (like Dick was) to appeal to a certain demographic.

I like Biden a lot. I disagree that Obama could of won with Hillary, I think Biden was a much better choice. He brings the years of experience especially in foreign policy where Obama's critcis say he's lacking.

Where McCain is accused of being old, out of touch, not conservative enough. He chose the youngest most conservative woman he can find. She wasn't interested in the world outside of Alaska until five weeks ago I believe because she wasn't "running" for VP she was asked to be by McCain, so she does look very uninformed a lot of the time. It is annoying how she can only answer questions if they are the ones she's studied up on.

I agree the thought of her as president is not a comfortable one. What scares me more is Nancy Pelosi is only "two heartbeats" away from the oval office. I do not like her.

I guess my point is that both candidates are being heavily coached on what to say and do, and the main reason they were chosen is to appeal to the voters that the presidential candidates might not appeal to as much. Not on their ability to lead because I assume neither plan on dying in the next four years.

I hope you don't mind my political banter on your blog. I just really enjoy this stuff and Shan gets sick of me always talking about it.
