Alfons Mucha

While being ground down buy the Machine at work today, I was jaunting around the incontrovertible Wikipedia and came across this masterwork. How brilliant it THAT! (You may have to click to really appreciate the magnificence.) Learn more here.

Music for the Masses.

I had all the best intentions of posting this stuff on Friday, but as soon as I got home from work I went to bed not feeling well and stayed there for almost two days. However, I don't want to let this exercise too far away from me, so I decided to post today instead. Turn up your speakers, put your feet up, and have a listen.

I may be the last one to the party with this these guys, but I think they are great. I heard about Vampire Weekend a while ago, but never got too into them until recently. Besides since Madilynn seems to be into Paul Simon's Graceland, I figured she may like this too. Shan, some of the lyrics from the others songs may not be baby friendly, so listen to them first before you let her listen.

I have loved Band of Horses for some time now, but this song is outstanding.

Finally, this last song I am posting is by Bon Iver. I find that as I get older and grayer( which is happening much faster than I would ever have anticipated) I find my musical tastes are changing. I never thought I would step away from the punk scene, but as much as I love that music, I find it increasingly harder to relate to. I guess maybe that's all part of growing up. Yikes.

James Jean

I wasn't sure if I was going to get around posting anything today or not. We are on closing week 1 of 2 at work this week which means I have no time to sit around and burn out brain cells on the interweb. What I do have is a link to one of my favorite artist currently putting out lots of new stuff. I first became aware of James Jean through the cover work he did on the Umbrella Academy. He has also done lost of cover work for Fables. Yes I do realize what a geek I am that I visit the comic shop however infrequently it is. That fact may or may not be as bad as the reality that my toy collection over the past 2 years has already outgrown my IKEA display cabinet. At any rate, click the image below to see the inspiration and incredible talent that is James Jean.

Politic

I have been debating whether or not to continue this exercise, or if it's completely in vain. Upon reflection I have decided that even if no one is reading my nonsense, it could at least be therapeutic for myself. Therefore, to get a little serious, I am going to encourage anyone who stumbles across this post to follow the link at the bottom and do a little research on the Presidential candidates. Poor Kelc has had to listen to me talk about politics so much the last few months I'm surprised she hasn't killed one of us. I've been a little too obsessed with the races this cycle. I'm afraid that too many people are going to base their choices from emails or talk show host opinions. I realize the futility of this exercise, but it is something I feel very strongly about. I have my opinions, but won't air them here. My main aim it to get anyone to look at the issues, compare them to what you think is right, and support someone. This election is going to be an important one. make your voice heard. Now I'll get off my soapbox.
